Hey Everyone!! It is the night before I go to “boot camp” and I am so excited. I’m all packed up and ready to go! Boot Camp is a 5-day training camp where I will receive instruction for the mission trip. The best part about tomorrow is I get to meet my mission squad. I’ve been chatting with them via group chat and I already love these people! I am so thrilled to be going to a place where everyone is as passionate about the Lord as I am! I’ve been gathering items for boot camp/the mission trip over the last couple of weeks and Amazon and Target have been great. Although they sent me the wrong colored tent. One of the more expensive items is a hiking backpack. Mom sent me up to the attic to look, I brought back an external frame backpack circa 1980. She laughed and told me to go look again. Then I found a large hiking pack along with a smaller daypack… new with tags. I ran downstairs and asked where my mom had gotten these. Turns out my parents took a trip to Highlands, North Carolina while pregnant with me and purchased the packs on that trip. Never thought that the backpacks would travel around the world- 20 years later after never being used! That is all for now. Boot Camp will answer many questions and maybe some cultural training. I look forward to updating you on the trip progress soon.

  1. The long-range vision your parents had to purchase those backpacks and keep them in pristine condition just for this trip is, almost unbelievable!

    Yay Dad!!

  2. Kaitlyn, I love this story! Little did your parents know that they and the Lord were blazing the path and providing for your needs 20 years early! Twenty years, a lifetime to you…..likely seems like yesterday to them in many ways. Thanks for sharing such a cool and unique story. Can’t wait to hear of the adventures the Lord is going to take you on with your new/old pack!
